Frequently Asked Questions
WAVETHRU involves using a laser to strip away part of the coating on the glazing in order to enable the mobile signal to more easily enter the building. The treatment is performed from the inside of the building. The treatment itself is not disruptive and does not disturb the building occupants. WAVETHRU lets the signal blocked by the glazing into the building.
No. WAVETHRU is a passive solution that simply lets the mobile signal more easily enter the building.
WAVETHRU is a special treatment applied only to the glazing.
Your building must :
- have double or triple glazing installed
- have been built fairly recently (i.e. in the 1990s or later).
There must be cell phone issues inside the building (no signal, dropped calls, no Internet connection, no call reception).
There must be good signal strength outside the building (as assessed by the WAVETHRU team during their audit).
WAVETHRU has been designed for people who:
- want a passive solution (only one treatment, no recurring costs, no energy consumption after treatment)
- want a durable, long-lasting solution (the treatment is applied to the existing glass and is effective for the entire life of the glass)
- need multi-operator coverage (not currently possible with active systems)
- have multi-technology requirements: 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi, TETRA, Bluetooth
No. WAVETHRU neither alters the glass, nor impacts its structural integrity, lifetime or insulating performance. A study conducted by INISMA, an independent organisation, certifies that the performance (light transmission, solar factor, U-value), integrity and durability of the glass are maintained.
No. The WAVETHRU treatment is applied on-site to the existing glazing. The existing glazing is not disturbed or manipulated in any way.
No. The treatment is applied to only part of the glazing and has no impact on its technical properties. A study conducted by an independent organisation, INISMA, certifies that the technical performance (light transmission, solar factor, U-value), integrity and durability of the glass are not affected by the treatment in any way.
No. We only treat a portion of the window. We perform a preliminary audit to determine the problematic areas where the mobile signal is weakest.
Yes, all glass on the market is made in the same way. We treat all double and triple glazing, regardless of the manufacturer.
The cost is quoted on a per-project basis and is based on the audit of your building. The TCO of our solution is lower than that of an active solution. There are no maintenance costs compared to active systems (DAS and repeaters). WAVETHRU is a one-time treatment.
- Quick turnaround: No more than one month between first contact and treatment
- Duration of treatment: This depends on the size of the project (small building: 1 day; medium building: 5 days; large building: 2 weeks)
No. On the contrary, having a building treated with WAVETHRU facilitates communications between individual devices and the base station, which means each user’s phone emits a much less powerful and harmful signal.
Of course! We’d be happy to schedule a video call or a visit to discuss your indoor mobile signal challenges. Feel free to book an appointment in our calendar at your convenience.
No. WAVETHRU does not improve Wi-Fi, which is an internal network inside the building. WAVETHRU enables every operator’s mobile telephone signal present outdoors to more easily enter the building.
